Hello everyone! Here is my New York Miniguide! When reading this please bear in mind that it was my first time in New York so I may not have discovered all the hidden spots just yet, but here’s a couple of things I would definitely recommend to those who are visiting for the first time! Happy reading!

Places to Stay

Hudson Hotel

We stayed at Hudson Hotel located in midtown, just steps from Central Park, Columbus Circle and the theatre district. Hudson is a brilliant reflection of the boldness and diversity of the city; it is stylish, young and contemporary. When you enter through the main doors, there is a luminous glass tunnel housing an escalator that transports you – literally – into a dreamy world! I would by all means recommend this hotel, it has a great location, service and is stylishly quirky!

Places to Eat

Lombardi’s

Lombardi’s offers amazing thin crust pizza’s for a cheap buck in Little Italy! I would give you one warning though, the portions are huge, definitely american size. You may easily share one large pizza between two. Besides that it is great value for money, swift service and overall a great meal!

Épicerie Boulud

Epicerie Boulud is a eat-in and take-out market place located at the southeast corner of Broadway and 64th Street, only minutes away from Hudson Hotel! This fabulous little space offers soups, salads, made to order sandwiches, breads, pastries and more. It is also the only place in New York I found Elderflower pressé, which I am madly addicted to. I definitely recommend having a quick lunch here and then visit one of the Century 21 branches which is located nearby!

Jean Georges

Jean Georges, the restaurant named after the extraordinary chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is one of New York`s finest with 3 Michelin stars. Prepare to be open-mouthed whenever you’re not chewing as nothing you encounter will fail to awe from the simplest to the most complex dishes! However, be aware with great quality also comes a great price, so this restaurant is better intended for great occasions (such as after completing the New York Half Marathon).

Places to Shop

Centrury 21

Century 21 has two fantastic warehouses filled with brands for less! However, be aware that this is a time consuming shopping spot, it’s like a zoo for clothes, you need to look through a lot to find some hidden treasures! Good luck!

What Goes Around Comes Around

What Comes Around Goes Around offers a very refined selection of great pieces! Even though it offers Vintage (which some of you may read as “second-hand” or cheaper than usual) it is not inexpensive. This is a high-end boutique with many hidden treasures, however, be prepared to pay for the fine materials and sequins.

Saks Fifth Avenue

Saks Fifth Avenue is a world-famous department store filled with fantastic designers and limited editions, often only limited to Saks. This is a “must-see” in New York even if you are not interested in buying anything!

Things to Do

Classic Tourist Attractions

This is obviously boring news for all New Yorkers, however, for us mere mortals who do not live in this gorgeous city visiting the Stature of Liberty, Ellis Island, Empire State, The United Nations Building and much more is a must! These are taken from my visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, you may find photos of the other attractions here.

Madison Square Garden

I went to a boxing match, but the possibilities are endless for entertainment at Madison Square Garden.

I hope you have enjoyed my New York Miniguide and that you will find this useful if you go to New York in the future. Have a fantastic trip!

Another day in this fabulous city! I decided to give shopping a rest today (by “I” what I actually mean is my dad decided to give shopping a rest) and go to all the tourist attractions instead! So we first went to the Empire State Building….

Then we went to Wall street….

And finished the day by visiting the United Nations Building.

I would recommend all these tourist attractions if you are visiting the city for the first time like I am! Tonight we are going to Jean Georges. They say this is one of New York’s finest restaurants so I’ll go tonight and judge! Have a lovely evening!

Dress by Marni for H&M (Completely Sold Out, maybe accessible at Ebay), Wedges by Christian Dior (Vintage), Leather Belt (Vintage), Ring by Lalique (here at Ebay) and Earrings by Les Néréides.

Good Morning! Has everyone collected their free latte from Starbucks yet? You can go into any Starbucks chain and they will give you a free latte today before midday! How good is that?! I am going to go and get mine soon! For sure! So what are you up to today? Anything good? Me?…..Oh you are too kind to ask! I am going to watch the film This Means War! Very excited! I especially love the “salmon comment” at the end of the trailer! Makes me happy! Yesterday was spent having dinner with a friend at Zizzi’s. I am not normally a fan of restaurant chains as I find they tend to become rather boring, however, I think Zizzi’s is an exception to the rule, and plus it does italian which is my favourite! Additionally, it is very good value with the tastecard! Happy eating!

Boyd’s Brasserie Bar and Lounge was the gorgeous tapas place I went to on saturday evening. The restaurant is ideally located in the centre of London at Trafalgar Square (close to Charing Cross and Leicester Square tube station). The kitchen offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, drinks and dinner. I would say that is a rather wide selection! To make a reservation click here. Enjoy your meal!

Good Morning! This has been a very busy weekend which will be followed by a very relaxing week until I go to New York on friday. So far I have no plans this week apart from watching This Means War. Should be good, I love going to the cinema! My weekend properly kicked off on Saturday morning with Afternoon Tea at the Hotel Montcalm. Then I went to London aquarium where I saw Sharks and little Nemo fishes. Very nice! Very touristic though so I would advise not going on a saturday, other than that it was good! Then we went for dinner ar Boyd’s Brasserie which offers British Tapas, another wonderful dining experience! The day finished with the Chicago musical which is also highly recommended! Overall, I would call that a very fun day out! Sunday was spent having a lazy birthday lunch with my cousin, preparing blogging material for this week and having a very large lovely roast dinner with friends! This has been a very eventful and very lovely weekend! I hope that yours have been just as good!

Cocomaya Fine Chocolatier & Artisan Baker offers the best of both worlds with exquisite quality and creativity. This gorgeous place is the creation by two influential players in the fashion industry; former head of concept at Liberty and the accessories and fashion consultant Walid al Damirji. Together they have created a beautiful and inspiring space in which one can enjoy afternoon tea, fine chocolates, cakes and breads. I would definitely recommend this lovely cafe for a lazy sunday afternoon or on a weekday you feel like you deserve to indulge in extra fine foods! I am going there this sunday. Who knows, maybe I will see you? No matter what you get up to; Have a lovely weekend!

Bar, Cocktails, Eating Out, Evening Dinner, Food, Indian Food, Liverpool Street Tube Station, London, Mintleaf, Restaurant

For those of you, like me, who does not normally care for Indian food (or have never properly tried it) I suggest you take a trip to the Mintleaf lounge! To get to this wonderful restaurant you simply get off at Liverpool Street Station and it is an easy 2 minutes walk from there! I would reccommend the Porn Star Martini and the Tandori Duck Breast Kebab as a starter.

If you have any recommendations for nice indian food please do tell!

Black tights, Cards, Christian Louboutin, Clutch, Dress, Eating Out, Evning Dinner, Fig Bistro, Flowers, French Food, Maje, Mulberry, Restaurant, Valentines Day

Valentines was lovely and the meal at Fig Bistro was just the icing on the cake. I got a card which said “A Madame Never Travels Lightly”, which that is very true when it comes to me. Right now I am in the car in my way into London. I am moving into my flat on monday and I am moving all my stuff up today (which is not little!). However, each time my boyfriend complains about the amount of stuff I have, I simply tell him that he COULD have chosen a different girlfriend, however, he DID NOT, so deal with it! Does anyone else get this? If you do, I suggest you try my tactic as I find it works every time! Despite us not agreeing on the amount of stuff I have, we do agree on most other things and among them is what makes a lovely Valentines Day!

The Louboutin’s are newly resoled. Hence the shady red colour!

Shoes by Christian Louboutin, Dress by Maje and Clutch by Mulberry.

I hope your Valentines Day was just as Lovely! Have a great weekend!

I had a lovely Valentines Day! Absolutely Lovely! I will show you photos of the flowers and outfit a bit later, however, I wanted to share with you the Lovely (with a big L) restaurant we went to! This charming and intimate restaurant is situated 10 min walk away from Caledonian Road Tube Station (Piccadilly line). I had the Langoustine & Pumpkin soup, followed by the Cod and then the Chocolate fondant for dessert. It was absolutely magnificent! The menu is offered by Chef Christoffer Hruskova who has previously worked at Michelin star restaurants! This restaurant offers excellent food, in a lovely atmosphere at a reasonable price. Do I need to say more? Well, if you’re STILL not convined have a look….

I hope you had a nice meal on Valentines Day! For more information and pictures visit figbistro.co.uk. If you have any other restaurant recommendations please do tell! Have a lovely evening!
